The $rcfile is the mhonarc rc-file, by default .mhonarcrc, and I so no reason to give it another name. It is hardcode in the scrip under "settings". That file should be present, and it should be in the root directory of the list that you want to split. If you save to the list "kitchen" in /local/kitchen/1998/ /local/kitchen/1999/ Then the rcfile should be /local/kitchen/.mhonarcrc If you don't specify --source then STDIN is used. From the beginning I used it that way directly from /etc/aliases, but the server received too many mail, so I switched method and saved all mail into files, and then every midnight I do the archiving. # 6. --source: the absolute path of the mailbox to be archived (STDIN not used) It should rather say: --source: the absolute path of the mailbox to be archived or STDIN is used You are welcome back with questions. The script has really served my needs. I deceided from the beginning that I should be able to handle different lengths of timeperiods. I haven't had any problems with it.
